We managed to find some wonderful guitar pick wedding favours from Printed Picks! The picture is the mock up they sent us before we ordered - the real ones arrived the other day and they look fantastic (we requested the writing to be changed to cadbury’s purple though so they did and they look excellent!) We’re very pleased and highly recommend Printed Picks, the price is reasonable, they arrived the day after we ordered and the staff were very friendly!

This beautiful bride had some brilliant advice.
Don’t be afraid to do your own thing – but do be prepared for a lot of raised eyebrows! Some advice I wish I had followed: Don’t waste your energy worrying about other people will think. I heard of people (friends, in fact) saying things like “a wedding is supposed to be a WEDDING,” and that what we were planning didn’t measure up. People may try to tell you that a wedding needs to have x, y and z (big white dress, limo and roses maybe?) to be a “real wedding,” but that’s just not true! The opinions of you and your husband are the only ones that matter. You are the only people that will look back on your wedding day as a defining moment in your lives, so why waste your time worrying about the opinions of people for whom it is just another party? After many sleepless nights worrying about what people would say about our wedding, the day finally passed and I realised how little what they thought actually mattered! My second piece of advice is try to accept as quickly as possible that your wedding probably won’t be the most original, amazing wedding that there has ever been. Perfection is unattainable, so save the heartache and plan for an imperfect wedding! Don’t be afraid to take inspiration from all the amazing wedding blogs out there. I don’t think I had a single original idea throughout the whole wedding process! But if you want to get philosophical about it, is an original idea even possible these days? An awesome quote that really helped me: “Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to the soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is non-existent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery – celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: “It’s not where you take things from – it’s where you take them to.” – Jim Jarmusch (film maker).

4 months & 26 days..

We haven’t updated in a while as we’ve both been really busy with work but things are going well :) We’ve now got most of the RSVPs back so we’re getting a clearer idea of numbers, so the next stage is mainly just finalizing details, paying suppliers & ordering the finishing touches (we’ve got some fun ideas, will post pictures when we can!) Oh & we found a lovely flower girl dress, so our bridal party is now properly kitted out! We’ll post a longer update very soon!

5 months & 28 days to go..

Constructing a table plan is really, really difficult. We’re still waiting on around half of the RSVPs but we thought we’d give it a go and make a provisional one - it took HOURS! We wrote all the names on mini post its and colour coded them to make it easier to put families together etc but unfortunately families/friends never fit neatly around one table! Not looking forward to having to construct the final one!

Other than that, most things are sorted - we are still trying to find glass containers for the candy bar/sweetie buffet - the ones in charity shops are cheap but really old fashioned and we haven’t found any cheap nice ones yet but we’ll keep looking! And we’re still trying to find someone who can do hair and makeup the way we want it. But most things are falling into place!

We’ve come to a bit of a halt in the last couple of weeks because a lot of things are sorted & most of the ones that aren’t can’t be done until nearer the time. We’re currently looking for ideas for favours though (we decided not to use the jars we has originally planned to as they worked out kinda expensive and most people don’t keep the favours as well as the fact that it seems silly to give sweets when there will be loads at the reception anyway) and we’re still trying to track down some nice bowls for the candy bar/sweetie buffet (can’t decide which one of those names is better?) The RSVPs are still coming back, we’re getting a few a week and only 2 people are not attending so far so although we’re still very tight on numbers it’s exciting to know who will definitely be there to share our day :D

“Wedding: Lorena & Dustyn

I followed Dustyn and Lorena’s wedding planning process on their blog so I am extra excited to share their gorgeous lesbian wedding affair. These NYC ladies changed their wedding location from Provincetown to Puerto Vallarta and then proceeded to DIY the heck out of it.  I am talking EVERY. SINGLE. DETAIL. The results are impressive.”

 Love this :)

social must have ~ candy bar!

We want one of these! But it won’t look this fancy, we’re DIYing it - there’s some gorgeous kits on ebay but they’re really expensive and it seems silly to spend that much money on a few labels and bits of ribbon. We just need to find some glass containers to start us off!

We received our first RSVP back through the post today :D

But people are already saying they’re finding it difficult to book accommodation because places are fully booked, that’s the problem with living somewhere touristy I guess! Glad we got the invitations out early, hopefully everyone will find somewhere!

Pretty wedding updo.

Potential wedding hair. I’m getting kinda obsessed with this lately, I know I want an updo but with a veil and tiara I don’t want it to look ridiculous! Sam has it easy - her head is half shaved so all she has to do is straighten her long side!!
